The Blacksburg Classic

Well yesterday I woke up bright and early sooo excited. I have butterflies and I just couldn't go back to sleep because I was visualizing (thanks to my mom) the finishing of this 10 miler.

However, once I started running I knew it was going to be a long 10 miles. I'm not sure why it was such a hard 10 miles but I fought every step. First I was so chilled even thought it was in the 50's, then my legs were numb for about 4.5 miles, then the hills at the end of the race, then I lost my friends. But, I finished. 10 miles at my normal 10 min mile pace. If you've run with me before, I never walk at the top of the hills (I mean if you ran all the way up you def can run down, if you want to walk walk UP the hill not down it!) Anyway, I walked a little at the top of the hills after mile 7 because I was so mentally worn down.

The race was really fun, we got some cool long sleeve t-shirts and I won a free pair of running shoes up to $125 from the local running store--how cool is that?! My friends Ashley and Nicki did great too. This was the longest distance either of them have EVER run and they both finished with smiles. Although Ashley probably will never try it again ;)

This was the first race since the marathon and I'm glad it's behind me. Now that the weather is warming up I have some work to do on the trails.

In need of some motivation

Well, it's been quite some time since my last post which can only mean one thing, I definitely haven't run! To be perfectly honest, I've hardly exercised.

I hate to complain but, our weather has been below freezing everyday for over 3 weeks. It's jsut unbearable to leave the house, let alone think about the gym this time of year with all the New Years Resolution people.

I am a little disappointed in myself because I trained all those days and miles just to forget how to run and how much I need to run. I'm a pretty uptight and stressed out person but when I run, it seems to take the edge off..and boy, do I need the edge off.

Today is a new day. I have a few races I will be training for in 2010 starting this weekend. I also plan to run the Baltimore Marathon again in October. The timing and experience was just so delightful and my best friend, Kim will be running with me, just like old times! This year, I'll be training for a time not just to finish. I also have plans to run a few half marathons and maybe some 10k's (I'm over paying money to run a 5k with a crappy t-shirt ;) ). As always, I hope to inspire through my running.

I hope that training will come easier since I did so much work in the summer but only time will tell.

What are you training for?
